From David Stewart-Murray using Mac OS X:

... Well done, just what I've been waiting for for years now! ...

From Leland Kreid, who went from 7.00 beta 0 to 7.00 final on dialup...

...I followed your excellent tutorial and in spite of three time outs by he modem was able to load the program . Incidentally with a dial up modem it took over 6 hours to complete. Initially it stopped at 418 files left, and ater with 200 plus files left. When it stopped due to modem hang up, I had to quit the program and reopen update to get it to restart. If that is correct, it ought to be mentioned in the tutorial. I let it run overnight and this morning it was ready to transfer data to the old program. I followed your procedureto add the Macsit items and the program started up. ....

From Nektarios Anastasopoulos, a new XPU user...

XPU is a very useful tool for the X-User!

While playing around with some settings in Airplane Maker in XP 710,

I erased on purpose the entire A320 folder (Heavy Metal)
and downloaded it again with XPU. It was good practice...-))

From Pete Sucy an incredible artist with a great website

Dave,

I tried out X-Plane Update. It worked great! I updated one copy to 7Final and another to 7.10Beta.

Took about 15 to 20 minutes on a 48000 connection to do the beta.

... great job! Made the process almost invisible.

Pete

From Horace Linscomb, who just updated from 7.00 beta-0 on WinXPHome:

Thanks to you Dave, now running both 7.00 FINAL and 7.10 Beta-1 on new XP2500+. My KVM mouse swap still needs work which has kept me from reporting back on succesful installation.

Lt/Col(ret) Horace Linscomb

From Greg & Laura, who updated from version 7.00 beta 0 from CD to v7RC4 / final...

... The updater did work fine after all... Your piece-meal updating is indeed better than downloading the whole thing. I'd say your brand-new updater works just fine. ...

Herbert Zieglier, who recently received the 7 beta 0 CD, has dialup which is pretty low quality and unstable ...

Dave,

I've installed the version of X-Plane 7.00 that's on the CD. So I guess I've started from the beginning with the very first Beta?

I've run XPlaneUpdate several times, each time stopping before completion to free our ancient phone line. No kidding, I've talked to linemen from the local phone company, one of the aboriginal Baby Bells, and the lines in our part of the county go back before WW II, with paper tape and lead insulation. Sometimes when the weather's really bad, I'm lucky to get a 28.8 connection on a 56K modem. Right now, as I type away here, I've a 49.333 bps connection, XPlaneUpdate informed me that there were some 320 files still to go, and checking its window now I see it's a bunch of bitmaps for runways. This must be the fourth or fifth time I'm on line to get my first update, and it appears to be working fine so far. I'll let you know more when I've an updated program to run.

Using XPlaneUpdate has been very clear and simple for me.
......

After completion.....

... soon found myself gazing at a more fantastically improved X-Plane 7 than I could have ever imagined expecting to see. For the present moment, let me declare my first experience with XPU to be a total success....

... XPU still beats every other upgrade experience I've had with X-Plane...
