If you have problems with XPlaneUpdate starting on a Mac, please see here.
Make Sure You're Running the Latest XPU
Clear File Cache
Aircraft Problems
Delete XPlaneUpdate Preferences
Before any troubleshooting, make sure you are running the latest version of XPlaneUpdate. We are constantly adding features, and older versions of XPU are usually not compatibile with files/data needed for the new features.
Here's how:
- Quit XPlaneUpdate
- Start it by double-clicking on the XPlaneUpdate application icon:
OS X

Windows

- Say yes if you get a dialog indicating that a new version is available for automatic downloading/installation
Rarely, XPlaneUpdate may damage your X-System so that it does not run.
The best thing to do if this happens is:
- Delete these X-System 7 applications / files from your X-System 7 xxx folder:
Airfoil-Maker 7.xx
Briefer 7.xx
Plane-Maker 7.xx
World-Maker 7.xx
mac_files.dmg (Mac Users Only)
but do not delete the old
X-Plane 7.xx
- Connect to the internet, launch XPlaneUpdate, and go to the XPlaneUpdate menu and choose Clear File Cache...

- Choose either BETA or FINAL in the menu (subscribers only) and restart XPlaneUpdate
- Press Start, which should rescan your system, comparing it to our server version, and say yes regarding download/install...
- Let it run to completion (including, for Mac users, about 30-60 seconds to install the applications)... if you do NOT get a message like Your X-System is now completely up to date! then repeat steps 1..5
- Delete your old X-Plane 7.xx application if it was not deleted automatically
- You may also need to delete your X-System 7 preferences files - please see this article
You should now be able to launch the new X-Plane application (as well as the others) that should now be in your X-System...
If you have problems with Aircraft after running X-Plane, please see the new Synchronize Aircraft feature.
If none of the above helps and you have a record of your personal transaction ID (also your PayPal Item Number, which you can find from here), you can delete your XPlaneUpdate preferences:
You will need to paste your personal item number in using the Enter Transaction ID menu after deleting your XPlaneUpdate Preferences.
If none of this works, try deleting your XPlaneUpdate application folder, and downloading a fresh copy.
As a last resort, you may want to set aside the X-System you are working with, download and install the latest final or beta version from x-plane.com, install it, and update using that version (first make sure it runs OK before running XPU).
